ELK Studios: ICE 2020 Micro Knights Interview
It’s Swedish firm ELK Studios 3rd year at ICE London and we managed to find a few minutes to chat with Brand & Marketing Manager, Jacob Nordwall to discuss ELK’s latest slot release – Micro Knights (available to play February 25th 2020).
Micro Knights Slot details
ELK Studios have utilized the popular cluster pays mechanic for their new 7×7 grid slot – Micro Knights. Land 5 or more adjacent symbols and the entire cluster pays out, with new symbols dropping in to create new pay clusters.
Micro Knights symbols include meat, archery target, wishing well, mushroom, rabbit, goat, frog and the highest pay symbol, the bull. A Gold Goblet is the Wild and the Gold Crown is the bonus Scatter, with 3 crowns triggering the Free Spins bonus feature.

Micro Knights Features
At the bottom of the grid is ‘The Queue’ – symbolized by a castle gate and a dragon; when symbols are knocked off the grid they “queue” up before entering the castle and linking up with other symbols on the grid to create new winning clusters. If there are no symbols on the grid to link up with, they wait in queue before activating… easy, right?
To the left is the Charging Knight – and using his lance he pushes an entire row of symbols off the grid and into the waiting Queue.
In the top left corner of the grid waits the Smashing Knight. At random times he increases the count of symbols that have fallen into the Queue by 1.

Feature Flags
There are an additional 6 feature flags that can be randomly triggered when winning clusters fill the meter to the right of the grid.
- Inferno – the dragon burns all low value symbols from the grid.
- Extra Wilds – places 3 to 15 wilds on the grid.
- Super Size – drops a big 4×4 symbol randomly onto the grid.
- Charge –moves 2-5 rows of symbols into the queue.
- Epic Charge – moves ALL symbols into the queue.
- Boosted Queue – use ALL symbols in queue to form winning clusters.
Free Spin Round
3 Crown Scatter Symbols trigger 5 Free Spins… or should we perhaps say ‘drops’. During the Bonus Game, the Queue becomes “sticky” – meaning the symbols stay in place, triggering winning clusters more frequently, activating the feature flags more often.
