Since casino mathematics seem to fascinate some of you, here is another tidbit. What are the odds that the little white ball ends up at the same roulette number three times in a row?
The calculus is actually quite simple. If we have a European roulette table, as we do on Mr Green, we have 36 numbers plus zero. The probability for a number to show up the first time is 1/37. This I guess everyone would get instantly. The probability is however, the same for each spin, unless the roulette table is rigged or defect.
Hence, the probability for the same number to show up three times in a row is:
(1/37)*(1/37)*(1/37)
which equals
0.00001974
or in per cent
0.001974%
Still, it happens all the time.
1974 is also the same year that Mr Green co-founder Mr Fredrik Sidfalk was born.
A co-incidence? .-)
