Google Turns Ten

Our friends over at Google celebrate 10 years of "don't be evil" today.

Congratulations on your super-achievement!

It feels just right that Mr Sergey Brin has started blogging too.

Google has redefined the rules of modern marketing and the rules of the Internet. It is true that this would not have happened without Webcrawler, Altavista and most importantly Go. At this time Yahoo!, Lycos and Excite were dominant. But Google did something none of these managed to do. Mr Page and Mr Brin did something remarkable.

And they will keep doing it.

Challenges ahead will most probably be privacy, copyright and anti-trust. All regulatory stuff. I am not worried for Google's popularity or technical superiority. Google will reign, as long as the authorities do not stop it.
